Eco-Friendly Tips for Pest Control
Creating pest free home may be your dream but remember using chemicals for controlling pest not only harms environment but also affects the health of your family. Here are some tips to control pest naturally and make your home pest free.
1. To keep away Ants and Cockroach, spray a little soapy water where there are insects.
2. Slip a few cut cup cloves of garlic between cracks to get rid of ants.
3. Keep books, laundry hampers, throw rugs out of the bed to keep away dust mites.
4. If your home is occupied by cockroaches leave bay leaves, cucumber slices or garlic in affected area as prevention.
5. Mosquitoes are active early morning and early evening. Close windows and doors to stop them from entering into your house.
6. Do not allow water to accumulate and remove standing water sources as prevention against flies and mosquitoes.
7. While using barbeque, as mosquitoes repellent, throw a bit of sage or rosemary on the coals.
8. Avoid humidifier as dust mites flourish on warmth and humidity.
9. Sprinkling talcum powder in likely place helps to trace mice shelter with its footprints.
10. Distribute all your mouse traps around the house helps to trap more mice.
11. Borate dust (Borate is a mineral mined from the earth) and foam are used to fill gaps in woods to keep away termite and stops causing damage to wood.
12. Check for boxes and packages that you bring from outside, for existing bugs and insects.

Dealing with various household pests is a constant struggle. Chemical pesticides are an obvious solution, but these are toxic and can cause allergies. Here are some natural remedies to control and prevent common pest problems in and around your house
Flies
While cleaning the kitchen counters and table tops, sprinkle salt on a damp cloth to wipe the areas. This will keep flies at bay.
Add 2 tbsp vinegar to the water used for mopping floors to keep your house free of flies.
Place small sachets of crushed mint around the house. It will discourage flies from entering your house.
Plant tulsi and pudina (mint) in small pots, and place them on your kitchen counters and near the windows. It will prevent the pests from flying in.
Measures
Keep your doors and windows netted. l Don't let garbage collect anywhere near your house.
Ants
Add a few drops of mustard oil in corners and entry points in your house along their trail. Draw white chalk lines on entry trails - ants don't cross these lines, as they don't like the powder sticking to their feet.
Squirt lemon juice in cracks where ants hide.
To keep away the ants from the sugar pot, put a few cloves in it.
Dip a string in castor oil and tie around the neck of honey bottles.
Set out cucumber peels or slices in the kitchen or at entry points. Ants have a natural aversion to cucumber.
Measures
Keep sweet items such as jam, in tightly closed containers.
Keep counters free of crumbs and sticky spots.
